Calibration tips

How to properly measure your tire size

The size printed on your tire sidewall is not accurate for calibration because tires compress under the weight of the vehicle — typically about 1 inch shorter than the printed size.

Recommended method: Locate the center of your wheel hub, measure to the ground, and multiply by 2. This gives you the true rolling diameter.

Quick shortcut: Subtract 1 inch from your sidewall size without measuring. For most lifted Jeeps this is accurate enough.

How to calibrate your speedometer using GPS Speedo

Have a passenger operate the app. Do not use your phone while driving.

  1. Plug in the ECRI device and open the app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  2. Tap GPS Speedo on the bottom menu
  3. The app starts collecting data once the vehicle exceeds 40 mph
  4. When the white arrows turn green, pull over and put the vehicle in park
  5. Tap Program Vehicle and confirm
Speedometer not accurate after calibration

There are two common causes:

  • Tire size entered is too large — try subtracting 1 inch from your sidewall measurement to account for tire compression from the vehicle's weight.
  • Settings haven't taken full effect — for JL/JT models, the modules need a full power-down cycle. See Settings Not Taking Effect below.

Jeep JK — 2007–2018

How to program tire size (JK)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Tap Tire Size (first option)
  4. Enter your tire size (subtract 1 inch from sidewall size — the tire squishes under vehicle weight)
How to calibrate axle gear ratio (JK)

Double-check your settings before confirming. Incorrect gear ratio settings can put your vehicle in limp mode and prevent it from shifting out of 2nd gear.

  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Tap Axle Ratio (second option)
  4. Verify your settings are correct, then continue past the warning
  5. Enter your gear ratio and confirm
  6. Turn the ignition off, remove the key, open the door, and let the modules power down
Jeep JK U-1412 code / speedometer doesn't work

This code can appear if something interrupted the programming process — common causes include the key being in the wrong position, turning the key off too early, or the vehicle running its own internal updates during programming.

Fix:

  1. Clear all DTC codes using the ECRI app or an OBD scanner
  2. Cycle the ignition on and off several times
  3. Re-program your tire size using the ECRI app
How to enable daytime running lights (JK)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Scroll down to DRL Region and tap it to set your region (country)
  4. Tap DRL Location and set which lights to use (high beams, fogs, etc.)
How to turn fogs on with hi-beams (JK)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Tap the Fogs Off w/ Hi-Beams toggle
  4. Tap Write Programming and confirm
  5. Turn the ignition off, remove the key, open the door, and wait for modules to power down
How to disable TPMS tire pressure sensor (JK)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Tap the TPMS Enabled toggle to disable it
  4. Tap Write Programming and confirm
  5. Turn the ignition off, remove the key, open the door, and let the modules power down

Jeep JL / Gladiator JT — 2018+

How to install the ECRI Security Bypass (JL)
  1. Reach under the dash about a hand's length behind the OBD port to locate two connectors
  2. Remove both plugs
  3. Insert the plugs into the ECRI Security Bypass module
  4. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  5. Open the ECRI app — you're ready to calibrate
Settings not taking effect after programming (JL/JT)

JL/JT models use a security gateway module (SGW) that requires a full power-down cycle before applying new settings. A quick key-off is not enough.

Proper power-down procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition off
  2. Open the driver door and exit the vehicle with the key fob
  3. Close the door
  4. Wait a minimum of 5 minutes for all modules to fully power down and self-update
How to calibrate tire size & speedometer tolerance (JL/JT)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port and open the app
  2. Tap Tire Size
  3. Enter your tire size (subtract 1 inch from the sidewall size)
  4. Set Speedometer Tolerance to 0%
  5. Tap Write Programming and confirm
  6. Perform the full power-down procedure (turn off, exit with key fob, close door, wait 5 minutes)
How to enable LED turn signals & stop hyperflashing (JL/JT)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Scroll down to LED Turn Signals
  4. Tap the toggle to enable it
  5. Tap Write Programming and confirm
  6. Tap OK when finished
How to enable daytime running lights (JL/JT)
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Scroll down to DRL Region and set your region (country)
  4. Tap DRL Location and choose which lights to use (high beams, fogs, etc.)
  5. DRL voltage is updated automatically
How to calibrate axle gear ratio (JL/JT)

Double-check your settings before confirming. Incorrect gear ratio settings can put your vehicle in limp mode and prevent it from shifting out of 2nd gear.

  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app — Bluetooth connects automatically
  3. Tap Axle Ratio
  4. Verify your settings, then continue past the warning
  5. Enter your gear ratio and confirm
  6. Perform the full power-down procedure (turn off, exit with key fob, close door, wait 5 minutes)

Troubleshooting & tools

How to restore stock settings
  1. Plug the ECRI device into the OBD port
  2. Open the ECRI app
